Master Boot Disk Repair
Scenario: You have a dual boot PC with Windows XP and Linux.
Required: Your Master Boot Record needs to be reformatted or repaired. You've been told to use FDISK, the formatting tool for Windows, but XP doesn't come with FDISK.
Solution:
1. You can try borrowing a Windows 98 or Me startup floppy and use FDISK. Microsoft actually says to use FDISK from Me or 98. That will work fine.
2. You can use a different partitioning tool. I recommend using Ranish Partition Manager. It's free:

You can also use Partition Magic or any partitioning managing software. Look for the installation disks for the software. When you run the install, it may ask you if you want to create a boot floppy. |
